Training: Carbon Management for Companies
October, November and December 2024 | Belgrade
Carbon footprint is another relatively new topic in Serbia, especially for small and medium-sized companies, but it is increasingly appearing as a requirement from foreign buyers and also as a requirement from banks. Within the Responsible Business Hub, we organized trainings for Carbon Management.
In October last year, we started this very interesting journey towards that distant goal of carbon neutrality. The first step is never easy, but it is a significant start.
In three months, 86 representatives of companies from various sectors underwent the training of the Responsible Business Hub for ˝Carbon Management˝ and learned how to calculate the corporate carbon footprint of their companies according to the GHG protocol. We have organized trainings for the following industries:
- Carbon management for companies from the dairy sector
- Carbon management for companies from the metal processing industry
- Carbon management for the wood processing industry sector
- Carbon management for companies from the sector of production, processing, and canning of meat and meat products
- Carbon management for companies from the chemical industry.
This is a significant start to decarbonization in the manufacturing sector.
The aim of the training was to include practical examples from the business processes of specific companies, to calculate the corporate and production carbon footprint from them, and to apply technological solutions and process optimization in CO2 reduction. The representatives of the companies showed that they are professional, competent, knowledgeable, dedicated to their work, ready to learn and to tackle the challenges of reducing emissions in their companies.
We organized carbon management trainings for specific industries in cooperation with Associations within CCIS: Association for Animal Husbandry and Processing of Animal Products, Association for Chemical, Rubber and Non-Metal Industry, Association for Metal and Electrical Industry and Association for Forestry, Wood Processing, furniture and paper industry), while our lecturers were:
- Ema Petrović - Consultant for carbon management, application of artificial intelligence in business and digital transformation
- Mladen Josijević - Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, University of Kragujevac
- Uroš Samardžija - mechanical engineer, consultant for GHG and CBAM emission calculation services
Next year, we will continue with the trainings, we will expand to other sectors, in order to train as many companies as possible to work independently on identifying and reducing their emissions, reducing energy consumption, replacing raw materials and technologies.
